In Indian Rummy especially, you cannot declare without a pure sequence. Start building it from your very first draw. If you don't have a pure sequence in progress, every other meld you form is technically worthless — you can't declare no matter how good the rest of your hand looks.
What your jl199 opponents discard tells you what they're not building. If multiple 7s have been discarded, the 7 in your hand is likely useless for melds. Conversely, if a card everyone seems to want keeps getting picked up, stay away from discarding its neighbours.
In Points Rummy, face cards and Aces carry heavy penalty points. If you're holding K♠ or A♦ with no meld path by mid-game, discard them. The risk of being caught holding those when an opponent declares is too costly — especially at jl199's higher stake tables.
A joker is most valuable when it completes a high-value meld or saves a sequence that would otherwise be impossible. Don't waste it plugging a low-value sequence when a natural run is just one draw away. Save jokers for where they have the most leverage.
Taking an early drop in Pool Rummy (before drawing any card) typically costs fewer points than a mid-game or full-count loss. If your starting hand is genuinely unworkable, taking the early drop and preserving your chip stack is the smarter play at jl199. Hindi kasalanan ang mag-fold nang matalino.
